From Sydney, we travel north across the magnificent Hawkesbury River to enjoy views and refreshments from a spectacular rock lookout before continuing to the historic Hunter River port of Morpeth. In 1830, you could arrive in Morpeth by sailing ship directly from London!
After breakfast and a stroll through the town, we pass through the tiny villages of Paterson, Woodville and Largs before following the Rosebrook Range to the Lower Hunter vineyards. Passing through Pokolbin, we visit several popular and boutique wineries before discovering some of the valley’s award winning Semillon and wonderful ‘single vineyard’ reds at the famous Mt Pleasant vineyard.Here, McWilliams ‘Eizabeth Cafe’ provides an excellent lunch venue!
After a relaxing interlude, we cross Mt View to the historic villages of Millfield and Wollombi where we can explore the Yengo National Park with it’s intriguing aboriginal relics or perhaps, visit some local boutique wineries before departing to Sydney via scenic tracks through the Watagan Mountains.
